Robbery suspect in custody after leading Fort Myers police on canal chase

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A man was taken into custody after leading Fort Myers police on a chase through a canal off of Marion Street near Shady Oaks Park on Friday. The Fort Myers Police Department said the man robbed several homes Friday morning off of Palm Beach Boulevard. Lee County deputies helped officers catch the suspect using drones in the area. At least 9 Fort Myers auto shops burglarized between May and June

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Nine auto dealerships and repair shops have been targeted in the West District of the City of Fort Myers between May 1 and June 1, according to police. More than 20 vehicles were burglarized and two cars were stolen. Miami man found guilty of running red light, killing North Fort Myers woman

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Miami man was found guilty of vehicular homicide on Thursday, according to the State Attorney’s Office. On June 27, 2018, 33-year-old Yosbel Regalado Fernandez ran a red light and slammed into another car. The light had already been red for seven seconds when Fernandez drove a tractor-trailer through the US-41 intersection, officials said. Skateboarder causes $3,500 in damages at Charlotte County Catholic school

Abandoned dogs found near Clewiston canal with zip ties on their tails

CLEWISTON, Fla.– A good Samaritan makes a disturbing discovery in Clewiston after finding five dogs abandoned near a canal on Wednesday morning. Jamie Wright and Amanda Nelson, who work for the Clewiston Animal Control, said they rushed to Evergreen and Art Lawrence roads in a rural part of Clewiston searching for the puppies. “They dumped a bag of puppy chow and that was it. Florida inmate says he killed 6 in Pennsylvania in 1970s

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — An inmate serving life in Florida has confessed to killing six people in Pennsylvania in the 1970s, state police said Wednesday. Pennsylvania State Police investigators obtained the confessions in March from Edward A. Surratt at a state prison in Raiford, Florida, the agency announced. Cape Coral police warn of scammer offering to replace LCEC power meters

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A scammer claiming to represent “Atlantic Key Energy” has been going up to homeowners in Cape Coral. The Cape Coral Police Department said the scammer is targeting people in-person rather than over the phone. They have said to homeowners that Lee County Electric Cooperative will replace their power meter and install solar panels on their house within a month.
