LCSO deputies investigating scene at Lago Del Sol Apartments

FORT MYERS, Fla.– There is an active investigation the the Lago Del Sol Apartments. Lee County deputies are investigating. A portion of the parking lot at the complex is blocked off with crime scene tape. According to a neighbors, there was a retaliation shoot out at the complex. It is unknown if there were any injuries. Dump truck thief dies after leading deputies on chase in Immokalee

IMMOKALEE Fla. – The driver of a stolen dump truck is dead after leading deputies on a chase on State Road 29 in Immokalee Wednesday. Deputies responded to the call of a stolen dump truck around 7 p.m. and began pursuing the driver who was driving erratically crashing into cars and driving into Farm Workers Village, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office. Mysterious recurring donations at Naples Military Museum leave emotional impact

NAPLES, Fla.– The cash first started appearing in March. Every week since, a crisp hundred dollar bill has appeared inside the donation box at the Naples Museum of Military History. Normally, the museum receives between $30-$40 in donations per week.  “I thought it was counterfeit,” Dave Hinds, the museum’s president, said. Cape Coral officials prepare for blue-green algae in waterways

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – With blue-green algae appearing in some Southwest Florida waterways, the City of Cape Coral is preparing with a plan.  “Our hope is to get ahead of this prior to it coming into our canals,” said Cape Coral City Councilor Jennifer Nelson.  The plan has several parts. 14 large lizards worth $35K stolen from Punta Gorda reptile breeding facility

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Fourteen large lizards were stolen from a Punta Gorda reptile facility on Monday night, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The lizards, called tegus, were stolen between 11:15 p.m. – 11:35 p.m. and are worth around $35,000 combined, said Jesse Hardin, the owner of Jesse’s Jungle. Some of the reptiles measure up to 5-feet in length, like Hellboy, who is 56 inches long. Face masks no longer required at Florida Everblades games in Hertz Arena

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Face masks are now recommended at Hertz Arena and at Florida Everblades games, the team announced. The new policy change from required to recommended is effective immediately. The Florida Everblades said masks will not be required but are strongly encouraged for people who have not been vaccinated. Cape Coal toddler dies after drowning in family pool

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A 2-year-old died four days after he was found floating facedown in his family’s swimming pool in Cape Coral on May 7, officials said. An investigation report from the Cape Coral Police Department recounts the day where the toddler got out of the house and drowned in the pool. Cape Coral coming up with plan to keep algae out of canals this summer

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Water in Cape Coral canals is mostly clear now, but in the summer of 2018 it was filled with green gunk. The City of Cape Coral is working on a plan if algae begins to cover canals this summer. Blue-green algae has been spotted in other areas of Lee County much earlier than normal, which is concerning. This week, the city will be coordinating with Florida and Lee County agencies to come up with a game plan just in case harmful blooms return.
