Rescue crews rush to extinguish Fort Myers fire

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fire crews responded to a structure that erupted in flames off of Alico Road early Wednesday morning. The blaze ignited around 3:40 a.m. NBC2 crews saw a pick-up truck with fire damage to the grill of the vehicle at the scene of the fire. It’s unclear what caused the flames or if anyone was inside the structure when the fire broke out. Count on NBC2 to bring you the latest information once it is made available. East Naples dry cleaner holding customers clothes hostage after closing suddenly

NAPLES, Fla.– Hundreds of customers of an East Naples dry cleaners are being hung out to dry after the business appeared to close up shop and take everyone’s clothes with them. Randy Jones says he’s been coming to the “Eco Cleaners” on Collier Boulevard in the Stock Plaza for three years. Pickup truck sparks brush fire in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A pickup truck caught fire Tuesday afternoon sparking a nearly half an acre brush fire in Charlotte County. According to the Charlotte County Fire Department, the truck caught fire while the driver was taking a lunch break and clearing brush along a fence line. The flames quickly spread throughout a wooded area on the property of the Burn Store Water Treatment Plant. Fire crews were able to safely contain the blaze. Historians tell tale of Calusa Indian ghost that roams Pine Island

At least one dead in Punta Gorda crash

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – At least one person died Tuesday in a crash at the intersection of US 41 and Tangelo Road in Punta Gorda. The crash happened around 2 p.m. between a Fedex truck and a motorcycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Southbound lanes of US 41 are closed at the intersection while troopers investigate. Investigators confirmed someone died in the crash but have not yet said how many people were involved or released any identities. This is a developing story. Lee Commissioners approve Caloosahatchee water quality research project

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The Lee Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with Florida Gulf Coast University on Tuesday for a water quality research project at the Boma site in Glades County. The research project would test methods for removal of nitrogen from the Caloosahatchee River surface waters in order to improve water quality. The project will be funded by a grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
