LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A child was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car on Eighth Avenue in Pine Manor Thursday. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the child was seriously injured. LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Blue-green algae toxins have been detected at the Alva and Davis Boat Ramp’s on the Caloosahatchee River. The Florida Department of Health in Lee County has issued a health alert for those areas based on reports of algae toxins found by the boat ramps. Man steals credit card, spends $1,400 in Lee County stores

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A man stole someone’s credit card and spent over $1,400 at a local gas station and Walmart on Wednesday. Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said they are looking for the man involved in the credit card fraud and grant theft case. The suspect stole the victim’s credit card at an Olive Garden in Cape Coral. Crime Stoppers said fraudulent transactions were made at RaceTrac in North Fort Myers and the Walmart on Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres. FDA: Pfizer vaccine can be stored at standard fridge temperatures up to 1 month

The FDA has authorized the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to be stored at standard refrigerator temperatures for up to one month, expanding the availability of the vaccine to doctors’ offices. Since Pfizer is the only vaccine authorized for 12-17 years olds so far, it will allow more reasonable storage for pediatrician offices. Cape Coral officials prepare for blue-green algae in waterways

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – With blue-green algae appearing in some Southwest Florida waterways, the City of Cape Coral is preparing with a plan.  “Our hope is to get ahead of this prior to it coming into our canals,” said Cape Coral City Councilor Jennifer Nelson.  The plan has several parts. Face masks no longer required at Florida Everblades games in Hertz Arena

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Face masks are now recommended at Hertz Arena and at Florida Everblades games, the team announced. The new policy change from required to recommended is effective immediately. The Florida Everblades said masks will not be required but are strongly encouraged for people who have not been vaccinated. Rescue crews rush to extinguish Fort Myers fire

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fire crews responded to a structure that erupted in flames off of Alico Road early Wednesday morning. PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – At least one person died Tuesday in a crash at the intersection of US 41 and Tangelo Road in Punta Gorda.
