Lee Commissioners approve Caloosahatchee water quality research project

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The Lee Board of County Commissioners approved an agreement with Florida Gulf Coast University on Tuesday for a water quality research project at the Boma site in Glades County. The research project would test methods for removal of nitrogen from the Caloosahatchee River surface waters in order to improve water quality. The project will be funded by a grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Missing Bengal tiger found safe and in good health

HOUSTON, Tx. / CNN — A Bengal tiger that went missing after a bizarre incident in Houston last week “has been found and appears to be unharmed,” Houston police announced Saturday night. Houston Police Commander Ron Borza said in a Saturday night news conference Victor Hugo Cuevas and his wife Gia are the owners of the tiger. One injured in shooting near Englewood restaurant

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — One person was injured in a shooting at 2045 N. Beach Road on Saturday night, officials said. Deputies with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting near the Lock ‘N Key Restaurant in Englewood. One person was injured in the shooting and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, deputies said. The other person involved in the shooting waited on the scene for law enforcement to arrive. Pedestrian hit by dump truck in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A Port Charlotte man was killed after being hit by a dump truck on Cochran Boulevard near US 41 Saturday afternoon. The 74-year-old pedestrian was riding a motorized tricycle when the crash happened, according to Florida Highway Patrol. The dump truck, driven by a 42-year-old Port Charlotte man, was going west on Cochran Boulevard, approaching a green traffic signal at the intersection. CLEWISTON, Fla. – A person was seen approaching multiple Clewiston homes in the overnight hours of May 12 and 13. Now, the Clewiston Police Department is trying to identify the suspect. Rastislav Havlic was last seen at his home wearing a grey tank top, blue basketball shorts, glasses, and Jordan sliders, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – One person is dead after a mower fell on top of a person in the 700 block of Logan Boulevard North in Collier County. Store owner dead after shooting in Arcadia

ARCADIA, Fla. – Residents in an Arcadia neighborhood are looking over their shoulders after a shooting leaves a corner store owner dead. Neighbors said the shooting happened at the Fiesta Food Mart on Magnolia Street around 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
